NATO Accredited the Utility of Gender in PSO Course has been concluded today with a closing ceremony. On behalf of the PSOTC Commandant, the Chief of Training and Education Department, LtC Damjan Sukara addressed the participants. In all, 28 participants from 13 countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, North Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom) participated in this course. Besides PSOTC Staff, guest instructors from ODC/US Embassy in Sarajevo, NCGM from Sweden, 77th Brigade from UK, EUFOR, FPS University of Sarajevo, and MoD BiH gave their contributions to delivering this course.
The course was developed in order to increase awareness and provide a conceptual understanding of gender issues in the security sector. It has a particular focus on Peace Support Operations (PSO) and how peacekeepers/PSF should understand women’s needs and their role as actors within the society they are tasked to protect.
