Master Sergeant Nihad Makarevic was born in 1972 in Doboj, Bosna and Herzegovina.
Starting his post-war career in 1997, Master Sergeant Makarevic served as a platoon sergeant and company first sergeant in the Combined Arms Battalion/Rapid Reaction Brigade. In 2002, he transitioned to a new position working as an English language instructor, where he contributed significantly to a collaborative project between the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the British Council. In this role, he managed and delivered interactive English language courses for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2008, his career continues at the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC), initially serving as an Operations NCO and later as a Personnel NCO. Master Sergeant Makarevic officially assumed the position of Command Sergeant Major of the PSOTC, effective October 2023.
His commitment to ongoing professional development has been instrumental in his successful transition across different roles and responsibilities throughout his career. He has pursued a comprehensive range of career, functional and specialized training to excel in his various duties.
Master Sergeant Makarevic's operational experience is marked by two International deployments. First operational tour in 2013, EF/ISAF, Kandahar, Afghanistan and second in 2021/2022, EUTM, Bangui, Central African Republic.
