The Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) successfully conducted the Human Security Tactical Training from 18 to 20 August 2026 for 34 members of the declared Light Infantry Battalion Group (LIBG) and other units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH) designated for reevaluation under the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) Evaluation and Feedback Programme.

Conducted as part of the preparation of the declared units of the AF BiH for the NATO Level 2 Re-Evaluation (reNEL 2), the training combined interactive lectures, case studies, and a series of situational training exercises (STXs) designed to reinforce learning through practical application. The training was specifically designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of junior officers and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) by strengthening their ability to integrate the NATO Human Security Approach into the planning and execution of tactical operations. It focused on identifying human security risks, incorporating human security considerations into operational decision-making, implementing appropriate mitigation measures, and reporting violations in accordance with NATO policies and procedures.

Throughout the three-day programme, participants completed an intensive curriculum covering key Human Security themes, including the Protection of Civilians (PoC), Cultural Property Protection (CPP), Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (CTHB), Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC), Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV), and Building Integrity in Operations (BIIO).

By strengthening both the knowledge and practical skills of the AF BiH personnel, the training enhances their ability to apply NATO Human Security standards in tactical operations. It also contributes to the continued professional development, interoperability, and operational readiness of declared AF BiH units, further supporting their effectiveness in multinational and NATO-led operations.
